Despite their resistance and success, they find themselves unhappy and unsatisfied over their achievements. Thus this raises the question of the effectiveness of the feminist movement

    On the Efetov-Wegner terms by diagonalizing a Hermitian supermatrix

    The diagonalization of Hermitian supermatrices is studied. Such a change of coordinates is inevitable to find certain structures in random matrix theory. However it still poses serious problems since up to now the calculation of all Rothstein contributions known as Efetov-Wegner terms in physics was quite cumbersome. We derive the supermatrix Bessel function with all Efetov-Wegner terms for an arbitrary rotation invariant probability density function. As applications we consider representations of generating functions for Hermitian random matrices with and without an external field as integrals over eigenvalues of Hermitian supermatrices.     Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease:Early, Late, and Combined

    Medical therapy in de novo Parkinson’s disease typically starts with a dopamine agonist or levodopa in combination with a decarboxylase inhibitor or if symptoms are still very mild with a MAO-B inhibitor. When patients do not (or no longer) respond satisfactorily to these initial therapies, different drugs can be initiated or combined (i.e., “add-on” treatments). These add-on therapies not only comprise oral agents but also intra-jejunal and intra-cutaneous treatments and functional neurosurgical procedures. This chapter starts with the treatment of de novo Parkinson’s disease whereafter indications and expected effects of the different “add-on” therapies will be described. The “add-on” therapies will be described in a hierarchical way and treatment algorithms will be provided based on prevailing symptoms including non-motor symptoms. The symptoms that will be discussed are: (1) bradykinesia and “wearing-OFF, " (2) tremor at rest, (3) dyskinesia, (4) gait and postural symptoms including freezing of gait, and (5) important non-motor symptoms. Finally, a comprehensive add-on treatment algorithm will be provided that takes into account non-motor symptoms that may limit the efficacy and tolerability of the different add-on therapies.</p

    An efficient backoff algorithm based on the theory of confidence interval estimation

Channel state estimation-based backoff algorithms for channel access are being widely studied to solve wireless channel accessing and sharing problem especially in super dense wireless networks. In such algorithms, the precision of the channel state estimation determines the performance. How to make the estimation accurate in an efficient way to meet the system requirements is essential in designing the new channel access algorithms. In this paper, we first study the distribution and properties of inaccurate estimations using a novel biased estimation analysis model. We then propose an efficient backoff algorithm based on the theory of confidence interval estimation (BA-CIE), in which the minimum sample size is deduced to improve the contention window tuning efficiency, while a fault-tolerance interval structure is applied to reduce the inaccurate estimations so as to improve the contention window tuning accuracy. Our simulation results show that the throughput of our proposed BA-CIE algorithm can achieve 99% the theoretical maximum throughput of IEEE 802.11 networks, thanks to the improved contention window tuning performance

    ISAR image matching and three-dimensional scattering imaging based on extracted dominant scatterers

    This paper studies inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) image matching and three-dimensional (3D) scattering imaging based on extracted dominant scatterers. In the condition of a long baseline between two radars, it is easy for obvious rotation, scale, distortion, and shift to occur between two-dimensional (2D) radar images. These problems lead to the difficulty of radar-image matching, which cannot be resolved by motion compensation and cross-correlation. What is more, due to the anisotropy, existing image-matching algorithms, such as scale invariant feature transform (SIFT), do not adapt to ISAR images very well. In addition, the angle between the target rotation axis and the radar line of sight (LOS) cannot be neglected. If so, the calibration result will be smaller than the real projection size. Furthermore, this angle cannot be estimated by monostatic radar. Therefore, instead of matching image by image, this paper proposes a novel ISAR imaging matching and 3D imaging based on extracted scatterers to deal with these issues. First, taking advantage of ISAR image sparsity, radar images are converted into scattering point sets. Then, a coarse scatterer matching based on the random sampling consistency algorithm (RANSAC) is performed. The scatterer height and accurate affine transformation parameters are estimated iteratively. Based on matched scatterers, information such as the angle and 3D image can be obtained. Finally, experiments based on the electromagnetic simulation software CADFEKO have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm
